| The NeoSave adapter allows a modern T5 flourescent tube to be fitted in place of an old T8 flourescent tube without altering the fitting or rewiring providing energy savings of between 40% and 70%. A pay back period below 2 years is common. See our Semplice Labs test below that showed a 66% saving. | |

Why use an adapter? The most common form of industrial and commercial lighting across Europe is still the T8 flourescent tube. The electronics that provide the necessary electrical characteristics to start the tube producing light and to then keep the tube alight at the lowest possible energy cost has changed from that in the T8 fittings (magnetic switch start) to a more efficient electronic system used in the newer T5 fittings (high frequency electronic). The newer fittings use around 20% less electricity and provide other benefits such as a more stable light output at the ends (cathodes) of the tube and less flickering in general.
Modern T5 fluorescent lamps do not fit into the older T8 fittings, so to move to the T5 system typically the whole fitting would need to be changed requiring a large capital investment, skilled engineers and of course business continuity interruption as each fitting was disconnected and removed from the ceiling above office or manufacturing staff. With the SaveT5Tronic adapter the T8 tube is removed and a T5 inserted in its place with no need to remove or rewire the whole fitting. The T5 tube has special end connectors fitted and the old starter (see below) is simply unplugged and replaced with a special one. It's that simple to switch to the modern T5 lamps and achieve the 20% savings going forward. The energy savings are excellent providing payback in some applications within 12 months. |

Key Benefits 30% higher light output 10% increased efficiency 90% less wastage from the ballast (controller) 300% lamp life increase
The NeoSave has a unique patented double warm-start function that greatly extends lamp life. With this feature tube length can be extended to 24,000 hours. With the latest GE tubes a working life of between 30,000 and 36,000 hours has been demonstrated. |

Case Study A typical lighting system for a small company may have 200 light fittings with 58W conventional ballasts and T8 flourescent lamps. A conventional ballast power consumption per light is around 75W compared to a NEOSAVE with a T5 lamp consuming only 35W per light. A conventional ballast current draws 0.67A per light and a NEOSAVE only draws 0.13A per light. The total power consumption for a conventional ballast is 15.02kW and the total power consumption for a NEOSAVE is 6.80kW.
With NEOSAVE fitted and based on an annual usage of 3,000 hours the annual energy savings are 24,600 kWh and the reduction in CO2 Emissions is 15 tonnes.

Semplice Energy Labs - 66% Energy Saving Semplice Energy tested the 28w NeoSave and observed a 66% energy saving with practically no difference in light output levels. A new magnetic ballast fitting was used as the test bed with two OSRAM fluorescent tubes. The OSRAM L36 watt T8 was compared to the OSRAM FH 28 watt T5 with the Neosave fitted.
|
The results table shows that the NeoSave ballast combined with the T5 lamp ran succesfully in the magnetic ballast fitting delivering almost the same lux level for a significant reduction in current draw of 66%.
Note also the significant reduction in temperature which provides an additional energy saving on consumption from localised airconditioning units.
|
The light fitting was previously unused and purchased specifically for the test from a typical DIY superstore. Results will vary with different ballasts. The ballast was an Eterna ER36/40.
The ballast tested allowed the lamp to be dimmed using voltage reduction. The NeoSave dimmed smoothly down to a very low stable voltage. The sound level or "hum" from the ballast also reduced with the NeoSave fitted.

Installation Can be done by an unskilled person and takes approximately 2-3 minutes with no need for rewiring. Future lamp changes are also still very simple and quick to perform.
The existing tube starter plug in are removed from the existing fitting. The special NeoSave "starter" is plugged into the old starter socket. The new HF tube has the NeoSave adaptors pushed onto each end and is then fitted as a normal tube to the fitting. That's all it takes. |
